Taipa
New Zealand
He Puna Marama Trust recently purchased a waka from Matua Hekenukumai Busby who is well known in the Pacific as a Master Carver and a Celestial Navigator. He has built numerous waka including Te Aurere and Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti.
We have been invited by Matua Hek to attend not only the launching of this waka, but also the launch of his book and to farewell the Waka Hourua, Hokulea, on its next journey across the Pacific. Although this is not an official school day, we would like to take as many ākonga as possible to this auspicious event.
This is a school event, and the school will be responsible for your tamaiti on this day.
We will be departing Paerangi located at 185 Lower Dent St, at 9.00am and returning by 5.00pm. Parent supervision would be appreciated for Paenuku ākonga. If you are wanting to attend with your whānau please feel free to join us, however you will need to come on your own vehicle and will not be able to help with supervision of ākonga.
