We have a fullterm in front of us, starting with the secondary schools Kapa Haka competition next Saturday in Kaikohe. Wahanga 2 - Wiki 5 Kia ora e te whanau This is Week 5 of Term 2 and we’re making excellent progress...“back on the waka’ literally. Its Kings birthday next Monday so it’s a long weekend and in 3 more weeks’ time its Puanga Matariki celebrations with another long weekend and we have 3 days of events planned once again…..more on that later. Wahanga 2 - Wiki 4 Kia ora e te whanau We ended week 3 supporting Pink Shirt Day, raising awareness amongst ākonga to stand up against bullying, to create and promote unity, inclusivity and respect in our communities. It was inspiring and heartening to be amongst our ākonga, from Year 1 to Year 13, as they stood up for each other and presented unity in the pinkest way possible. This follows on from the waka mahi in Paetata with Joelene Busby. This year there will be a rollout of training for ākonga across Tuakana to familiarise them with all things waka so that they can confidently take Whakaruru Te Hau out soon.
